August continued to be a busy month for Bryan at work but, as usual he tried to make the most of his time off. Here he is playing Sorry! with the kids.

Wendy got stung by a bee while trying to catch it on our walk. Her hand swelled up quite a bit and it lasted 48-72 hours before it went down! I think the whole neighborhood heard her cry when she got stung and luckily I think her bee catching days are over! 🙂

Our neighbor’s granddaughter loves to bring her dog, Chloe over. The kids all adore Chloe and Reese is especially obsessed! She is the most patient dog ever to let the kids take her on our back porch swing.

And Reese LOVES walking around with her while holding her leash! Chloe has knocked her down a few times but usually walks at a good pace for Reese to keep up. We are definitely not in the phase of life to get a dog (despite the kids persistent asking) but we are happy to have the neighbor lend her dog to the kids occasionally.

We found some nearby neighbors that happily let us pick their blackberries! The kids love picking berries and we were able to get enough to make a Blackberry Peach Crumble and some jam!

Another day at the beach where my kids are all in their element!

This may be a new favorite picture of Wendy!

We love it when friends are able to meet up with us here.

The kids continued to have fun with legos this month.

And Reese continued to try on all the shoes she can find. She’s at such a fun and happy age and we all adore her.

Bryan was on call for his birthday but we were able to have friends over for cake the day after!

Bryan got off work early (a miracle!) and brought home my favorite ice cream from Cold Stone along with two 3 candles thinking I was turning 33 this year. Luckily he was off by a year in the right direction and we had a good laugh about it. 🙂

Bryan let me go and get a pedicure and then he and I got a babysitter while we went to a favorite restaurant and on a walk that night. It was so fun to get away for a bit!

(Also, I haven’t written much about my eyes but my doctor has been trying to get a better fitting lens for my left eye and as you can see, it’s been rough. I’m hoping to get it sorted out before this baby comes!)

I had lots of neighbors, friends, and family do nice things for me this birthday and I felt so loved! One of my friends brought this beautiful bouquet of flowers by from the farmer’s market and it made my day!

We had a bbq on the beach with friends one night and Hank taught us all a new way to enjoy hot dogs! 🙂

We have had some new friends and neighbors move in and it has been so fun to get to know their families! We all have kids that are similar ages and we’re so happy to make some new friends after having so many friends move the first of July.

The kids decided that they really wanted one of these kayaks and worked really hard doing chores to earn one. They love getting out in the water and it’s fun to see them exercise their independence!

Wendy got the hang of it a lot more this time.

We love where we live and these two love being in or on the water as often as possible!

August is always one of my favorite months because there are so many beautiful hikes near us. I had been wanting to go hike near Rainier all month and we finally had a free day to do it.

The wildflowers up there never cease to amaze me and Wendy and Maggie had fun making little bouquets.

Maggie took this pic of us!

We first hiked to a secluded little lake where we ate our lunches and the kids waded in the water.

Then we started another hike with stunning views of Mount Rainier!

There were lots of huckleberries and the kids and Bryan could have stayed and picked all day with this stunning backdrop!

Rainier in August is one of my favorite places in the world. So glad we could make it happen this year!

We came home and Bryan made the most delicious huckleberry pancakes for dinner. They were probably the best pancakes I’ve ever had!

Maggie is getting better and better and doing hair and wanted me to document this cool hairstyle she did on me. 🙂

Meanwhile, Reese kept herself entertained by putting every bow we own on her ankles. 🙂

Overall, August was a great month. We had my family reunion mixed in there too and that change of scenery made a big difference for all of us! We feel so lucky to live in such a great place to explore and August is probably the best month to do it! We definitely aren’t ready for fall but it’s going to be here before we know it anyways.
